
Vice Minister Niu Dun met with H. E. Mr. Michel Malherbe, Ambassador of Belgium to China, in Beijing on June 13, 2014. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening China-Belgium agricultural cooperation.
At the meeting, Ambassador Malherbe appreciated the progress in agricultural trade and research between China and Belgium, and expressed his willingness to enhance cooperation with China in areas like feed, potato and animal health.
Vice Minister Niu Dun spoke highly of Malherbe's efforts in promoting China-Belgium agricultural cooperation immediately after taking office as the ambassador to China. He said that China stands ready to work with Belgium in the above-mentioned areas. Niu proposed that the two sides establish and improve cooperation mechanisms, support existing research projects, and encourage agricultural trade and investment between agribusinesses from both countries.
Malherbe agreed with Niu on his proposal.
The two sides also exchanged views on the export of Belgian beef to China.
